Power cuts for over 7 hours in parts of Vile Parle East
Mumbai: There was a power failure, which affected residents in parts of Vile Parle East for seven hours, said local residents.Those inconvenienced included several senior citizens who found it unbearable in the sultry weather. A resident of New Poonam Baug building said that a cable fault occurred 15 days ago due to "some utility damaging the cable". "After a fortnight, there was a second cable fault and now the power discom switched to 3 generators," he said.A Tata Power official said: "A high-tension (HT) cable fault was identified in the Vile Parle-Koldongri area due to possible damage during the excavation being carried out in the vicinity by an external agency, resulting in partial power disruption in pockets including parts of Nanda Patkar Road. Supply is being restored through alternate means while simultaneous repairs on the damaged cable are in progress, and supply will be restored at the earliest."Power cuts were also reported in Audumbar Society, near Tilak Mandir, Vile Parle East, whose residents took to social media to highlight the hardships they were facing, saying they were "suffering in the summer heat."
