MUMBAI: The Bhayander foot over-bridge (FOB) which was delayed by over a year was thrown open to the public on Thursday. The inauguration of the bridge, however, was done hurriedly by the local National Congress Party (NCP) with an eye on the forthcoming civic elections in the region.
On Thursday, NCP MP Sanjeev Naik and MLA Gilbert Mendonca opened the FOB originating from Balaji Nagar in the west to Prashant hotel in the east.
The local unit of the BJP was also quick in putting up boards taking credit for the construction of the FOB. The FOB was constructed by the Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MBMC) with funds from the MMRDA.
