Police team in Kolkata on killer's trial

mumbai: the city police have sent a team to kolkata to trace the killer of 72-year-old draupadi bhavnani, who was bludgeoned to death at her third-floor residence in radhaswamy apartments, 36th road, khar (west) on april 10. although the police refused to disclose the identity of the suspect, they said they had recovered some clues at the murder spot, following which a team was sent to kolkata.no arrests have been made so far. the victim was living alone while her son sunil works for an airline in australia. preliminary investigations reveal robbery to be the motive as the cupboards were found ransacked. “we are yet to ascertain the value of the stolen jewellery,’’ a senior officer said. the police have also questioned the watchman, who ran errands for the elderly woman. “he used to bring milk, bread and vegetables for the woman daily,’’ a police officer said. the police found a blood-stained shirt, which reportedly belongs to the suspect, at the scene of crime.
