Police spot crying kid on CCTV, rescue him

MUMBAI: A boy aged around 12 hailing from Telangana who had run away from home “for fun” will be soon reunited with his family, thanks to an alert woman constable at Kalyan railway station.


The boy, who was crying inconsolably, was spotted by head constable Shakeela Sheikh who was on duty in the control room to scan CCTV footage at the station.

An RPF official said that around 9 am on Thursday, Sheikh noticed the child crying on platform 1.

Sheikh informed senior inspector S C Sharma who brought the boy to the V control room. The boy, who could only speak Telugu, was unable to give much information except that he was from Nizamabad and his school’s name.

The constable then traced the phone number of the school and the officials there provided his parents’ phone number.

Senior divisional security commissioner K K Ashraf said that the boy has been sent to

children’s home. “The child will be handed over to his parents after completing legal formalities,” said Ashraf.
