MUMBAI: The city police have blamed the Maharashtra health director for not lodging a formal complaint about the kidney transplant racket, which has led to the release on bail of the nephrologist arrested in the case.
The nephrologist of Bombay Hospital was released on bail on the grounds that the offence was not registered in keeping with the provisions of the Human Organs Transplant Act.
The act says a competent authority must lodge a complaint so police can pursue the case.
