Police lay trap, nab car stereo thief
MUMBAI: A notorious thief, who used to steal stereo systems from cars of suburban residents , was arrested by the Kandivli police recently. He has been identified as Prakash Pawar (20). "Our officers were conducting a combing operation at Dahanukarwadi when we received a tip-off about Pawar's presence there. A trap was laid and he was arrested,'' said senior inspector Surendra Jaiswal.

Pawar has a past record of four cases of car stereo thefts registered against him in 2007 at the Kandivli police station.
The total value of the stereos stolen is Rs 69,000. All of the stolen stereos have been recovered by the police.
