Peaceful march in Mumbai for UN permanent seat, 65,000 may participate
MUMBAI: Close to 65,000 students and citizens from across the city will assemble near the National Sports Club of India (NSCI) auditorium on Sunday and hold a peaceful march to Mahalaxmi Race Course displaying their concern for getting India a permanent seat in the coveted United Nations Security Council (UN-SC).
A students-run organization, Indian International Model United Nations (IIMUN) will be organising an opening ceremony for all participants in the city from over 7,500 students from 150 plus schools across the country.

Union ministers Piyush Goyal and Suresh Prabhu are expected to be present at the event. IIMUN has organised the peaceful march after the opening ceremony.
A similar movement will be taken to 40 other cities across the country in the next four months. The organisation is going to hold a similar exercise in New York outside the UN Headquarters on August 15 with 400 students from the country. The students are calling it an attempt to get India its second Independence and this time on an International scale.
Founder and President of IIMUN, Rishabh Shah, said, “India has the largest youth population in the world, third largest economy, and one of the largest contributors to the UN army, we are a peace loving country and now it is high time that India gets a permanent seat in the UN-SC. The UN cannot afford to ignore and quell the voice of the youth of a large country like India.”
"We are not disappointed. We will continue to fight for the implementation of noise rules and we know that the regulatory authorities will have to respond," said Rawat.
