MUMBAI: You will have to pay Rs 10 to Rs 300 extra to travel by Ganpati festival special trains from September 10. This is because this year, you will have to pay tatkal charges for these special trains.
A railway official said 60 trains will ply as Ganpati specials and extra charges, towards tatkal fares, are “nominal”. “There will be no dynamic pricing,” an official said.
The tatkal charges are Rs 10 for second class, Rs 90 for sleeper class, Rs 250 for 3-tier AC travel and Rs 300 for 2-tier AC coach reservations. Bookings for the special trains began on Sunday and most tickets were booked within the first few minutes, sources said.
Train journeys will commence from September 10.
An official said, “We are running 60 special trains to clear the extra rush of passengers during Ganpati festival. This includes 01001/01002 CST Mumbai – Madgaon–CST specials (34 services); 01033/01034 CST Mumbai – Madgaon – CST weekly special train (8 services).”
