Patole slams BJP for denying Rahul entry to temple in Assam

Mumbai: MPCC president Nana Patole on Monday condemned BJP and Assam government for refusing entry to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi at Sri Sri Sankar Dev Satra temple in Assam’s Bordua.
“BJP restrained Gandhi from entering the temple in view of unprecedented response to his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. Attempts were also made to attack him at certain points, and now this. It is shocking that one must take permission from BJP before entering the temple,” Patole said.
He said while PM Narendra Modi was performing pran pratishtha in Ayodhya, his party workers were stopping Congress leaders from entering a temple. “In the name of Ram, BJP is indulging in petty and cheap politics,” he added. Claiming that since the beginning of Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, BJP workers have been creating hurdles and attacking the yatra, the MPCC chief said it reflects gross abuse of power and arrogance of BJP.
Patole further said, “Congress never opposed the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. In fact, the then PM Rajiv Gandhi had opened the lock and allowed darshan. The temple construction plan, too, was approved during Congress rule.”
