MUMBAI: State Congress president
Nana Patole on Wednesday asked
BJP leader
Kirit Somaiya
to explain the status of his complaints against former Congress leaders
Narayan Rane and
Kripashankar Singh
, who have joined the BJP in the recent past. “A few years ago,
Somaiya
had levelled charges of corruption against both
Rane
and Kripashankar Singh. However, after they joined the BJP, he has been silent on his charges against him. For Somaiya, now it appears they have become spotless,” Patole said.
Rejecting the demand for the resignation of CM Uddhav Thackeray after the ED seized properties of his brother-in-law
Shridhar Patankar
, Patole said both Somaiya and Nitesh Rane have no moral right to demand the CM’s resignation.
“Somaiya must explain to the people as well as the BJP leadership if he has withdrawn his complaint against Narayan Rane and Kripashankar Singh. It appears that Somiaya is in the habit of making wild allegations without adequate evidence,” Patole alleged. Patole said that at a juncture when people are passing through an unprecedented crisis owing to spiralling prices of essential commodities and petroleum products, BJP leaders, including Somiaya, are making baseless allegations against Shiv Sena and NCP leaders. “BJP is making efforts to defame the Maha Vikas Aghadi government. BJP will not succeed in its designs to destabilize the democratically elected government,” Patole said.
