MUMBAI: A live performance by Pakistani pop-rock band Jal was cancelled at the last minute in Mumbai on Wednesday due to "unforeseen circumstances".

We understand that it was an eagerly awaited performance and we deeply regret the inconvenience caused." A Jal spokesperson said, "We don't know the real reason for the cancellation of the show, but our Delhi plan is on schedule." The band is scheduled to play at the Hard Rock Cafe there on April 5.
Goher Mumtaz, lead vocalist, said, "We're disappointed that we didn't get to perform in Mumbai. Jal has a huge fan base, especially here, and I hope to come back to Mumbai next month. I really don't know the reason for this last-minute cancellation." He said getting permission for performances, especially for Pakistani artistes, takes a lot of time. Last year, a Jal performance in Pune was cancelled. Mumtaz said, "I don't really recall the cancellation of our Pune gig, but it could have been a delay in getting permission." The three-member Jal is in India to promote its new album 'Pyaas'. A video for a song has been shot in Mumbai. Singer Atif Aslam, known for hits like 'Woh Lamhe', was formerly a part of the band.
