NAVI MUMBAI: Over 143km of
Mumbai-Goa highway
has been concretised and opened for use. The ministry of road transport and highways is concretising four lanes for 366km of the highway between Indapur in Raigad and Zarap in Sindhudurg district, which is being executed in 10 packages through Maharashtra’s PWD. Work on 84km between Panvel-Indapur is expected to be completed by June 2020, and work on the Indapur-Zarap stretch by March 2020.
National highway circle superintending engineer Vivek Nawale said the fourlane concretisation work stretches over 366km. The central median is five metres wide for plantation and landscaping.
The 366km stretch will have six toll plazas.
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has acquired over 93% of land for highway work. The project cost is estimated to be Rs 11,500 crore. NHAI will also provide wayside amenities like a trauma care centre, truck bay, public utilities and solar lighting.
