Mumbai: Even as the ruling Shiv Sena welcomed the civic budget, opposition parties slammed it saying there was nothing in it for the common man.
“The
BMC
budget 2022-23 is a budget that is progressive and compassionate... but most importantly, backed by substance and commitments. I congratulate BMC for its constant commitment to keep Mumbai as ‘Urbs Prima’,” environment minister
Aaditya Thackeray tweeted.
The BJP, however, said that the budget was nothing but an artificial inflation of numbers. “It is a failed attempt to hide BMC’s massive cash crunch. Thousands of crores have been taken out of reserve funds, internal loans have been taken. Despite this there is nothing in the budget for the poor,” BJP corporator
Vinod Mishra said.
Samajwadi Party MLA and corporator
Rais Shaikh
, too, said that the budget was only for the rich, while Congress corporator
Ravi Raja
slammed it saying there are “few provisions for health and education”.
