Om Puri to be new NFDC chairman
Filmstar Om Puri will be taking over as chairperson of the NFDC, almost a year after film distributor Manmohan Shetty resigned from the post.
MUMBAI: Filmstar Om Puri will be taking over as chairperson of the National Film Development Corporation Limited (NFDC), almost a year after film distributor and financier Manmohan Shetty resigned from the post.
Om Puri's appointment has come even as the Information and Broadcasting ministry has assigned NDFC the job of commissioning a film to mark the 150th year of the 1857 Uprising, which si to be directed by Vinay Shukla.
The film is to be produced by Firoz Nadiadwala in collaboration with NFDC and is based on Tatya Tope. Akshay Kumar is to play the lead role.
