MUMBAI: A sessions court on Friday rejected the bail plea of a 28-year-old lawyer who was arrested after his wife’s family found a video of him having unnatural sex with another woman.
The complaint was filed by the father-in-law of the accused who alleged that there was a possibility that the woman had been plied with alcohol to facilitate the commission of the offence.
The complainant’s lawyer, Rizwan Merchant, opposed the bail plea and said if the accused was released, then there was a possibility of him influencing the woman in video and that the police were yet to ascertain whether or not the act was consensual.
The complainant told the police that his daughter was married to the lawyer in April but had returned to her maternal home after she was harassed by her husband and his family.
The woman had complained to her family that the accused would leave home after 11.30pm and return in the morning in an inebriated condition. When the woman returned to her father’s home she had with her a laptop on which the accused had transferred pictures of their wedding ceremony. However, the family found that the accused had also transferred “some explicitly sexually overt pictures and a video”. The complainant alleged that the accused had secretly married the woman in the video.
