Water pipeline diversion

Thane bars sealed

Amid concerns over rising COVID-19 cases, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) on Monday night sealed five restaurant bars for violating COVID-19 rules. Two orchestra bars also faced the same action during the raid. The TMC said that the five bars violated the rules of following social distancing, wearing masks, and using sanitiser. Shilpa Orchestra Bar on LBS Road in Naupada ward, Sun City Orchestra Bar at Kapurbawdu in Majiwada-Manpada ward, TRP Lounge in Hiranandani Estate, Pop Tates, and Maezo are the five restaurant-bars against which action was taken. E-rickshaws have made their way to Thane amid rising fuel prices in the country. Thane school accident

Belapur crocodile rescued

Last week, a crocodile was spotted in Belapur near the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) headquarters, sending a wave of panic among locals. However, on Tuesday, the reptile was rescued by the Wildlife Welfare Association (WWA), an official statement read. It was an Indian Marsh crocodile measuring 6.43 feet and weighing approximately 35.4 kg. The WWA rescued it with the help of the Thane range forest department.

Leopard radio-collared

After Savitri, a second leopard, named Maharaj, has been radio-collared in Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP). The two leopards will be monitored by SGNP authorities and Wildlife Conservation Society for six months to understand their behaviour in an urban landscape.
