Nerul murder case: Police find lead on missing agent

Navi Mumbai: The Nerul police, along with crime branch sleuths probing the murder case of missing real estate agent Sumit Jain (39), whose body was found at Gagode village, Raigad on August 23, are tracing the other missing agent, Amir Khanzada (42), an NCP (SP) office-bearer in Raigad, who was accompanying Jain. The police have claimed to have a vital lead on the missing agent Khanzada. A source at NMMC hospital, Vashi, informed that the post-mortem report of the deceased Sumit Jain mentions that he had sustained one bullet injury and stab injuries to his leg. The cause of death was due to excessive bleeding from these injuries.As many as 12 police teams, including the crime branch units, are working round the clock to gather technical evidence to trace the missing agent Khanzada, as informed by DCP Zone-1 Pankaj Dahane.The murder victim Jain and the missing agent Khanzada had travelled from Nerul to Raigad for a property deal on August 21. The next day, their missing complaint was lodged by their respective family members. By GPS tracking, the car was found abandoned at Khalapur near the Mumbai-Pune expressway on August 22. There were two bullet shots on the rear windshield and blood stains on the rear seat. As Khalapur police transferred the zero case to Nerul police station, where the missing persons complaint of both agents was lodged, prima facie, an attempt to murder case was registered at Nerul police station against unidentified accused. After Jain's body was found, a murder case was registered at Nerul police station.The abandoned car that was found in Khalapur was purchased two years ago by Khanzada from his relative, who resides in Mumbra. However, Khanzada had not transferred the car to his name, informed a police source.
