MUMBAI: As part of celebrations in run up to Navy Day, Navy reaches out to schools to give school children a glimpse of the Indian Navy through their visits to ships.
Defence PRO said, "These visits provide a unique opportunity to visiting children to educate themselves regarding Indian Navy as guardian of our country."
He said such visits also open their minds on current technologies in the world much beyond the realms of their day to day life.

Every year Navy under takes organised activities and visits for the school children in the month on November and December around 04 December, Navy Day.
For the first time this year on November 16 the ships are scheduled to be kept open to visits by organised groups of school children.
Other regular activities have also been tentatively planned such as Air display (18-19 Nov 15), Beating the Retreat and Tattoo ceremony (02 Dec) Symphonic Band Concert for school children (20 Nov) and Day at Sea for School Children (28 Nov).
Forty students per school normally participate in each event. For participating in these functions and events, schools are required to pre notify with a written request made to Command Welfare Officer, Headquarters Western Naval Command on Telephone 22752528/ 22751316 and Fax 22660857.
