Navi Mumbai: A murder suspect, Anis Mohammad Khan Maldar (38), who was detained from a dormitory in Thane city on Saturday after a week-long joint probe by Raigad police Local Crime Branch (LCB) and Goregaon police for allegedly sexually assaulting and murdering a 21-year-old woman at Omkar Residency lodge on the Goa highway in Lonere, Mangaon taluka, has been arrested after he confessed to the crime. A police officer privy to the case informed Maldar has claimed that he was in a relationship with the victim since last year after his divorce from his first wife. As he suspected the victim was having multiple affairs, he planned to kill her by calling her on April 19. Maldar was produced before the Alibaug sessions court that has remanded him to police custody till April 30.
