MUMBAI: A team of National Security Guard (NSG) has planned reconnaissance survey at some sensitive places of Metro corridors, including those that are under construction.

Metro 1 (Versova-Ghatkopar-Andheri) is operational while Metro 2A and 7 (Dahanukarwadi-Dahisar-Aarey) lines are partially open, and the remaining corridor is expected to be commissioned next month.

Metro 3 underground corridor (Colaba-Bandra-Seepz) is under construction and is expected to open partially in a year. Sources said, "The team will be in Mumbai for a week and will visit various metro stations, including depot site at Aarey."

NSG will assess the threat and security measures undertaken or planned by metro executing agencies. This is the first time that NSG will inspect the security measure of Metro networks in Mumbai. A senior official said, "Mumbai being the commercial capital is always on the target of terror groups. For sensational purpose Metros could be the foremost target and hence NSG must be visiting Metros to plus loopholes, if any in security apparatus." Last year, NSG had carried out the drill at CSMT stations by creating a scenario where an entire train with passengers was hijacked by terrorists.
