An AQI of 201 to 300 is considered poor and people with heart or lung diseases and the elderly must reduce heavy or longer exertion and outdoor activity.

“There was rain in the periphery of Mumbai. This resulted in the windspeed picking up. This dispersed the pollutants. Similar conditions are expected to continue over the next few days,” said an official from SAFAR.

Meanwhile, minimum temperatures were higher than normal. Santacruz and Colaba recorded a maximum temperature of 32.3 and 30 degrees Celsius, both 1.1 and 0.5 degree Celsius below normal. IMD has forecast cloudy skies with light drizzle for Sunday.
