MUMBAI: The
Western Railway will run four special late night trains from
Churchgate
to
Virar
and four in the reverse direction to cater to rush those who are out on New Year’s Eve and want public transport to return home.
The trains will ply from midnight till 3.25am.
The trains that will leave Churchgate will depart at 1.15am, 2 am, 2.30am and 3.25am. The last train will reach Virar at 5.05am. For Virar trains bound for Churchgate, the first special train will leave at 12.15am, 12.45am, 1.40am and 3.05am.
The BEST will operate 20 late night buses in six routes across island city and suburbs to cater to rush of those celebrating New Year at Gateway of India,
Juhu Chowpatty
,
Gorai creek
and other seashore points, officials said.
The buses will ply on route numbers 7 Ltd, 111, 112, 203, 231, 241. "In addition to this, extra buses will be operated based on demand and crowd in various parts of city late Tuesday night," said BEST spokesperson Manoj Varade.
