Mumbai: Two bookies held for accepting bets online

MUMBAI: Two cricket bookies were arrested for online betting on Thursday by the crime branch unit 10. While one of the accused was identified as bookie Mukesh Shah alias Bhoiwada’s son Yukin (33), his aide was Vinod Yadav alias Zobbu (32).


Acting on a tip-off, the police raided their office at the Bhomi Vidyani Co-Operative Housing Society in Andheri. They found that the accused had been accepting bets on the Dark Net and betfair.com in order to avoid being caught. On Thursday, the two were found accepting bets on the Sydney Vs Melbourne match in Big Bash League.

“Yukin had made his own accounting software, called MatRc, to facilitate the betting. It was found on his laptop and notebook,” said senior inspector Sunil Mane.

The police said that the two accused were booked under the Indian Telegraphic Act and the IPC sections for cheating and forgery.
