MUMBAI: A 19-year-old man who had a tiff with his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend was found murdered in a swimming pool of an under-construction building in Vikhroli on October 6.
The Vikhroli police have registered an offence of murder and against unidentified persons.
The deceased, Sumit Rajesh Jambale, a resident of Kolhapur, had recently come to stay at his uncle Sandesh Jadhav's house in Vikhroli (east).
On October 6 the security guard of the under construction building told the police of a body floating in the pool filled with rain water. Locals identified the body as that of Sumit Jambale. There were severe head, shoulder and hand injuries.
"Police have found bloodstains on the third floor of the under-construction building, indicating that he was beaten up and thrown down. His friends said that the deceased was in a relationship with a girl whose ex-boyfriend had warned Sandesh to stay away from her," Sandesh told TOI.
Locals told the police that the deceased was last seen on October 5 at a Navratri event, playing dandiya. They said he was drunk.
Sandeshsaid that there were WhatsApp chats between the deceased and the suspect where the latter threatened him. Police have started recording statements of the girl and the suspect. -Ahmed Ali
