MUMBAI: After nine months, the trial in 2012
Sheena Bora murder case is likely to commence after special CBI court directed issuance of fresh summons to 67th prosecution witness, a handwriting expert.
The matter will be heard on December 22. The witness last deposed in March. The trial was on hold due to Covid-19. At Tuesday's hearing, via video-conferencing from jail, accused
Indrani Mukerjea complained to court she was being made to wear the sari meant for convicts.
The court told her to file an application. While co-accused and ex-husband
Sanjeev Khanna was produced via video-conferencing, out on bail, Peter Mukerjea sought exemption from appearance for the day's hearing. The court allowed his plea.
In March, the expert confirmed Sheena did not sign the resignation letter. CBI alleged it was fraudulently sent in her name after her murder. The expert said the signature matched handwriting of Kajal Sharma, Indrani's former assistant.
