The caseload reached 7,13,002 with the addition of 673 new infections, the city civic body said.

According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)'s updated data, the tally of COVID-19 recoveries rose to 6,80,009 with the addition of 751 discharges in the last 24 hours.

The death toll jumped to 15,073 in the city, while the metropolis now hosts 15,701 active cases.

As many as 26,992 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, the BMC data showed.

The daily death count dipped by 21 as compared to Monday, when the city had witnessed 728 new cases and 28 deaths. The financial capital had reported the highest single-day deaths in the second wave -- 90 -- on May 1.

The recovery rate stands at 95 per cent, the civic body said. Notably, the overall growth rate of COVID-19 cases between June 1 and June 7 was 0.12 per cent, while the case doubling rate was 543 days. The civic body said at present Mumbai has 27 containment zones in slums and chawls (old row tenements), while the number of sealed buildings is 98.

Continuing its sharp decline on the COVID-19 graph, Maharashtra on Tuesday reported 10,891 new cases of coronavirus. The cumulative case count has now climbed to 58,52,891. There are 1,67,927 active cases in the state.
