The new saffron flag has Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji's Rajmudra written in Sanskrit language.

The flag may lead to controversy as Maratha Kranti Morcha strongly opposed using Rajmudra on it.

Vinod Patil a convenor of Maratha Kranti Morcha told TOI that he wrote to chief minister Uddhav Thackeray requesting him to look into the matter and restrict any political party using Rajmudra as political symbol.

"We have also requested state election office, however, the Kranti Morcha or in a position of head of a social organisation, I will approach Bombay high court if the government or election office would not take cognisance," said Patil.
