Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Agency to spend Rs 11cr on desilting part of Mithi river

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Agency (MMRDA) will spend Rs 10.85 crore on desilting the section of the Mithi river which comes under its charge.

MUMBAI: The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Agency (MMRDA) will spend Rs 10.85 crore on desilting the section of the Mithi river which comes under its charge.
MMRDA joint project director Dilip Kawathkar said there are a few chronic spots around Bharat Nagar, Dnyaneshwar Nagar, Walmik Nagar, Maharashtra Nagar and Ambedkar Nagar. “The desilting will prevent floods in the areas during the monsoon,” he said.

MMRDA officials had earlier tried to get the municipal corporation to do their part of the river desilting but it did not. The MMRDA is working on 6.8km
