MUMBAI: A major leap for Mira-Bhayandar residents as Metro Line-9 begins its regular trial runs from Kashigaon to Dahisar East. Officials on Tuesday said this is a lifeline that connects you directly to key parts of Mumbai like CSMIA Airport, Andheri, Ghatkopar, and beyond through seamless interchanges. After years of waiting, this marks a turning point in for Mira-Bhayandarkars.
The new Metro line is expected to transform daily commute for Mira-Bhayandar residents, offering direct connectivity to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport via Lines 7, 7A, Andheri (West) via Line 2B, Ghatkopar via Lines 7 and 1, and Link Road through Metro Line-2A at Dahisar (East).
The line will be expanded to include Thane via Line-10 at Miragaon and Vasai-Virar via Line-13. The project is expected to alleviate traffic congestion, particularly near the Dahisar Toll Naka, reduce vehicular emissions through eco-friendly commuting, and introduce energy-efficient systems like regenerative braking, said MMRDA.
This stretch offers seamless connectivity along the Western Express Highway and will act as a major decongestion solution. It is the first time in the MMR that a double-decker structure combining a metro and a flyover has been constructed
