MUMBAI: The Sahar police on Thursday arrested a 28-year-old MBA graduate for allegedly molesting, duping and robbing a businesswoman of Rs 40,000 at knifepoint on May 7 and then fleeing to Indore.
Ankit Jain alias Abhimanyu was tracked after police got his address from a government agency that was conducting a survey in Indore this week. Jain, who sells gadgets online, committed the offence after befriending the 37-year-old woman from UP through a matrimonial site. He called her to discuss marriage and gift a phone.
Jain was tracked down to Imli Bazaar after the survey team got his mobile number from his old address. "Jain was called to his old address on the pretext of updating his details for elections," said an officer of Sahar police station. "Jain gave her a duplicate phone and got her to take him to a guest house. There, he molested and robbed her at knifepoint," said DCP (zone VIII) Manjunath Singe.
"Sub-inspector Vasant Pawar and constables Shailesh Mane and Nikhilesh Sable helped track down Jain," said senior inspector Shashikant Mane.
