MUMBAI: The general public must wait to hop onto Mumbai’s lifeline — its local trains. State minister for relief & rehabilitation,

Vijay Wadettiwar

, said on Monday that

local trains

will not be accessible to the general public till the pandemic is over or until Covid cases are fully under control.

Currently, only medical workers, government employees and those classified ‘essential workers’ can travel on local trains. He said that trains lead to crowding and, with the threat of a third wave looming, opening local trains has been put on hold.
