Mumbai doctor complains to BEST about errant driver

MUMBAI:Dr VijayalaxmiGoel, whose car was hit by a speeding BEST bus at Dahisar on March 12, has now lodged a complaint with the transport body. She wants the BEST to take disciplinary action against the errant driver.
Dr Goel had already registered a complaint with Dahisar police on the very same day, but the cops have not made much headway. "I had called up the police station a couple of days back, but they have not taken any action against the driver.
I wrote a detailed email complaint to the BEST on Friday night and expect the authorities to take action,'' she said on Saturday morning. BEST spokesperson Virendra Bagul said that commuters should lodge complaints over the helpline or email.
"Once a complaint is registered, it is passed on to the traffic department or the bus depot. We initiate an inquiry and if the driver is found guilty, we take departmental action against him."
The gynaecologist had followed the bus for 45 minutes, from Dahisar to Kandivli, in an attempt to make the driver halt and talk to her. But he wouldn't let her catch up with him and dropped off passengers randomly, without even halting at designated bus stops.
Armed with his badge number, Goel finally approached the Dahisar police and filed an FIR for rash driving. "Its not just my case. I want such errant drivers to be punished so that such incidents are not repeated in near future," she added.
