NEW DELHI: Mumbai received heavy rain on Sunday morning, causing traffic jams in several parts of the city. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more rainfall in Maharashtra and nearby states in the coming days.
According to the IMD, a depression over Madhya Maharashtra is moving east-northeast at 20 kmph. As of Saturday night, it was located near Sangli, Solapur, Osmanabad, and Bidar.
The weather system is expected to weaken over the next 12 hours.
In Thane district, heavy rain damaged roads on the Bhiwandi-Wada stretch, leading to traffic jams up to 8 km long. Some commuters were stuck for over four hours due to potholes and ongoing roadwork.
The IMD also said heavy to very heavy rain is likely in parts of Konkan, Goa, Karnataka and Kerala in the next few days.
