Mumbai bizman succumbs to injuries 10 days after minor rammed SUV into his scooter; wife still hospitalised
MUMBAI: A 33-year-old Ghatkopar businessman, Dhrumil Patel, who was critically injured after a car allegedly driven by a 17-year-old boy rammed into his scooter in Vidyavihar, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday evening after battling for his life for over 10 days in hospital.
His wife, Minal (32), who was also injured in the crash, continues to recover in Zynova Shalby Hospital.

Based on the complaint filed by Dhrumil's uncle, Mahesh Patel, Tilak Nagar police had registered a case and investigations had revealed that the SUV was being driven by a minor. Police had arrested the boy and his father for allegedly allowing him to drive the vehicle.
Officials said that with Dhrumil's death, relevant sections of the BNS for causing death due to negligence and provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act will be added to the FIR. The Juvenile Justice Board had recently granted bail to the 17-year-old on the grounds that his board examinations were approaching.
The accident took place near Somaiya College on Feb 5 around 11.15pm, said police. The couple was returning home on their scooter after closing their shop in Parel when the speeding car, allegedly coming from the opposite direction, rammed into them. The impact of the collision was so severe that they were flung several feet away and suffered multiple fractures and grievous injuries.
Dhrumil and Meenal were first rushed to Rajawadi Hospital and later shifted to a private hospital in Ghatkopar, due to the critical nature of their injuries. Doctors had earlier stated that Dhrumil was on ventilator support and in an extremely critical condition.
Last week, police said that several videos of the boy and his friends posing with expensive cars and performing car stunts surfaced on social media following the accident at Vidyavihar.
