MUMBAI: The Aarey police recently arrested a 52-year-old man, who claimed to be a BJP party worker, for allegedly

duping

a

real estate

agent of Rs 61 lakh in 2014. The accused, Dharmendra Thakur conned Pramod Kaluvala after striking a deal for a plot in Royal Palms, Goregaon (east). He was nabbed when he came to cast his vote.

The case was filed in May, after Thakur failed to return Kaluvala's money for five years. "Thakur had gone into hiding after learning about the FIR. He collected money from the victim by fraudulently trying to sell a plot, and claiming to be its owner. He is wanted for similar Rs1.2-crore

," said an officer.
