MUMBAI: A BJP worker from Vasai has been arrested for allegedly demanding Rs 10 lakh
extortion from two brothers entangled in a property dispute.
The complainant Narsinh Rajput had filed a complaint with the Valiv police alleging that one Vishal Joshi called him to his office at Sativali in Vasai (east) on Wednesday and demanded Rs 5 lakh each from him and his brother to settle a property dispute.
Rajput who has alleged that his brother has staked claim to a land that belongs to him was threatened of dire consequences if he did not pay the money.
Joshi is believed to have learnt about the property and contacted the brothers to extort money.
Police said that Joshi, who claims to be a
BJP office bearer, does not have any previous cases.
