MUMBAI: Member of Parliament and the national president of the BJP's youth wing
Tejasvi Surya inaugurated the party's "Young Warrior" office in Worli on Thursday.
Worli is the assembly constituency of former environment minister Aaditya Thackeray, the son of former CM Uddhav Thackeray. The BJP has specially chosen the constituency to host all its programmes from Janmashtami to Ganeshotsav to the Diwali Deepotsav directly challenging the Thackerays in the run up to the BMC elections.
Surya while inaugurating the office targeted Aaditya Thackeray saying the BJP is making every effort to take forward the youth from ordinary families.
"Be it the BMC elections or the Lok Sabha polls, the youth will play an influential role. Power is not the right of any one family. Power comes from people's support not with money power," he said, adding all the youth present at the venue were from ordinary families whose father or family member was not a minister. He added, "Prime Minister Modi has uprooted several strongholds, the BJP flag will fly atop the BMC," he said.
Surya who paid respects at the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj near the airport, later paid his respects at Chaityabhoomi Dadar and Veer Savarkar memorial at Shivaji Park. Addressing the media, Surya said the Thackeray Sena is practising the politics of opportunism, appeasement, corruption and family dynasty. The real Shiv Sena, which is the Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena, is taking forward the legacy of Balasaheb Thackeray, he said. tnn
