MUMBAI: In a case of road rage, a 33-year-old biker allegedly pushed and hit a woman with his helmet near Bhendi Bazaar late Saturday evening. A group of onlookers gathered at the spot and allegedly beat up the biker before handing him over to the police.

The biker, Shaheen Shaikh, a resident of Chira Bazar, near Metro cinema, was riding the bike when it hit a woman who was waiting for a taxi. When the woman confronted the biker, he allegedly verbally abused and pushed her. The biker then allegedly hit the woman with his helmet. Soon, a group of people gathered and beat up the biker. He tried to flee, but the people did not allow him to go, and called up the police.

The biker was taken to JJ Marg police station. He has been booked for 'causing hurt by dangerous weapon', 'act intended to insult a woman's modesty' under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Police sources said they are also checking the CCTV footage to find out more details about the case. Statements of witnesses are being recorded, they said.
