MUMBAI: Acting on a complaint by the Lilavati hospital, the Bandra police on Wednesday booked an unidentified man for clicking and circulating on social media photographs of Amravati MP Navneet Rana undergoing an MRI scan at the hospital.
The photograph was clicked by a man (wearing a white shirt) who accompanied Rana and her security into the radiology room at the hospital at around 10am on May 6.
A Bandra police officer said they have registered a case under IPC Sections 336 (house-trespass) and 448 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) after receiving a complaint from hospital security supervisor Amit Gaud, and probe is in the initial stage before the arrest is done.
The FIR was registered on Wednesday, two days after a delegation of
Shiv Sena, including MLC Manisha Kayande, former mayor Kishori Pednekar and Yuva Sena’s Rahul Kanal, stormed into Lilavati Hospital, along with mediapersons, questioning the authorities about how photography of MP Rana was allowed while she was undergoing an MRI. The BMC had sent a notice to the Lilavati Hospital over the release of Rana’s MRI photos to the media and questioned how permission was given to click her pictures while she was undergoing treatment at the hospital.
