MUMBAI: Police have arrested a historysheeter, Mohan Shetty alias Kolu, who attacked a police constable attached with the Borivli police station when he tried to apprehend him. Shetty was wanted in a case of outraging modesty and sexual harassment that was registered against him in 2022.
Acting on a tip-off that Shetty was going to arrive at Ratnabai Chawl Ganesha Utsav Mandal, a police team laid a trap and nabbed him after a fight broke out between the two.
Shetty kicked constable Swapnil Pawar (33) on his leg when tried to nab him, but he was overpowered. A police officer said that on realising that the police team had trapped him, Shetty hurled abuses at them and threatened to kill anyone who touched him. "After kicking me on my leg, the accused hit on my hand with a stone before trying to flee," said injured constable Pawar in the FIR.
In another case, the Juhu police have arrested two - Tariq Shaikh (28) and Sangeeta Das (27) - who were found seated suspiciously in a parked autorickshaw on NS Road in Vile Parle (West). When a police team led by assistant inspector Ganesh Jain reached the spot, the duo had attacked cops. They were eventually caught. Senior inspector
