MUMBAI: MNS workers on Monday forced a woman CR staffer to apologize for declining information to a Mulund resident as he had submitted his RTI application in Marathi.
S Jagtap had filed an application on July 22 and the deputy commercial manager (claims), Swati Sinha, sent a reply on August 17, declining the information as the query in Marathi was difficult to understand.
At 11am on Monday, MNS workers, led by corporator
Sandeep Deshpande, protested outside Sinha's cabin at CST on the fifth floor. When they entered her cabin, Sinha broke down and GRP and RPF personnel had to rush to her rescue. Though Sinha pleaded that she was not well-versed in Marathi, it did not placate the MNS.
She wrote an apology letter and assured to attempt to understand Marathi. A CR spokesperson said, "We reply to queries in Marathi. In Jagtap's case too, a reply was dispatched despite the query being declined."
