MUMBAI: BJP city president and MLA Gopal Shetty stormed into Dahisar police station with a group of supporters on Thursday after a party banner was pulled down by the cops.
Shetty claimed they had the necessary civic permissions and had put up a banner near a polling booth in Rawalpada, with their candidate's name on it. "Residents should have an idea who is contesting from their area.
But the police pulled down the banner.''
"Political banners cannot be put up within 200 metre of the polling booth,'' zonal DCP Ajit Patil said. But Shetty claimed the banner was put up beyond that limit. "We met the senior inspector, Ramesh Keni, of Dahisar police station,'' he said.
