MUMBAI: Several students appearing for the NEET-UG exam this coming Sunday have complained of getting far-off exam centres, even this year.

For some, the centres are more than 100-150 kilometres away from where they reside.

Some students even said that the centre allotted to them is different from the city they were allocated a few days ago.

The exam is scheduled on Sunday. Across the country, over 18 lakh students have registered for the test.

M Bhat, a parent, said they were allotted a centre in Pune city, but when they received the hall ticket on Tuesday, their daughter's centre was in Baramati. "It is over 100 kilometres away and we do not wish to take the trouble of travelling the distance on the exam day. There is no other option but to go and stay in Baramati a day before the exam," she said. Another parent, Aishwarya T, a resident of Goregaon, said she was allotted a centre in Mumbai, but when she got the hall ticket, she got one in Kharghar. "This is the first time they have announced the centre city.

Navi Mumbai was our third option after Mumbai and Thane while filling the form, so we do not know what went wrong," said the parent. They now plan to travel on the same day in the morning, but are concerned about the rain situation in the city. Muzaffar Khan, a medical education counsellor, said students have got centres which are 150-200km away from where they stay in Nashik.
