MUMBAI: Barely a few days after TOI reported that corporators were finding it difficult to keep pace with the BMC’s new pothole tracking mechanism, the civic administration has decided to come up with a manual on the system, which will be handed over to all corporators. Sources say that the manual is currently being reviewed by civic chief Sitaram Kunte.

A senior civic official said, “It is important that corporators understand the system. Only when everyone is using the system will we be able to resolve problems related to potholes. We had given a demonstration of the system to standing committee members before implementing it. But this wasn’t enough as corporators are still clueless about the system and have criticized it without understanding its potential.” Welcoming the move, standing committee member Rais Shaikh said, “It is commendable that the administration is taking corporators into account. This attitude should continue in the future when the civic body introduces any new system.”
TOI on July 24 had reported that corporators were blaming the municipal administration for not training them adequately on the new mechanism.
