MUMBAI: A senior manager of a tyre manufacturing company lodged an extortion complaint against a person who threatened to defame the company.
The accused said he would publish negative reports about its financial growth and status and causing a significant drop market share. The accused, who posed as head of an international rating agency, demanded Rs 1 lakh for not publishing the report.

The case was registered with the N M Joshi Marg police on August 21.
The complainant said he had received an email in February from a person who identified himself as the head of an international rating company based in America. .
The accused in his email stated that he had studied the published information about the complainant’s company and as per the reports the company was growing rapidly. The accused demanded audit reports for five years and a list of directors in the company.
