MUMBAI: A former bank employee has lodged a complaint of rape and cheating with the Andheri police against a 33-year-old man. The woman has stated that the accused, Prashant Ramsuvarna, cheated her with false promises of marriage and had a physical relationship with her for two years. Ramsuvarna (33) stays at Santa Cruz East and works with a film corporation.
The woman said in her complaint that she first met Ramsuvarna for work reasons. They grew close and had a relationship between August 2008 to 2010. Ramsuvarna allegedly took her to the family court at Bandra where they filled up a marriage form. They got intimate at the woman's residence in Virar, Ramsuvarna's residence, besides resorts in Aksa and Arnala.
But Ramsuvarna did not tie the knot with her. The couple's relationship soured in August 2010 and they stopped speaking with each other thereafter. But the woman recently learnt that Ramsuvarna's marriage had been fixed to a distant cousin. Feeling cheated, the woman approached the Andheri police with a complaint of rape early on Wednesday. After conducting an initial inquiry, the police arrested Ramsuvarna the same day under sections 376 and 420 of the IPC.
