MUMBAI: The Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association (IMPPA) has recommended to the Western India Cine Employees Association, an umbrella organisation for all film industry associations, that actress Mallika Sherawat be banned from acting in Hindi movies because of alleged breach of contract.
IMPPA president Saawan Kumar told TOI that the recommendation was made after producer Ramesh Sharma, of Pyaasa fame, said he had signed Sherawat in 2000 for the film Kab Kyon Aur Kahan along with actors Sanjay Suri, Sharad Kapoor andAditya Panscholi.
"After shooting for 28 days, she simply disappeared," Sharma said, adding that the film has been stuck since then. "Sherawat has given me no indication of returning the signing amount," he said. Sherawat, who was abroad when contacted by TOI, wondered what "the fuss" was about. She said she would "sort out thematter on her return toMumbai in a couple of days".
