Trained Nurses Association of India celebrates 75 years at Maharashtra's Sion hospital

MUMBAI: The Maharashtra state branch of the Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI) celebrated its 75th anniversary at LTMG Hospital, Sion, on Thursday. While the umbrella TNAI was founded at JJ Hospital in 1908, the state wing was set up in 1950.


Thursday's platinum jubilee celebration included a keynote address, quiz competition, motivational talks and awards. The lifetime achievement award was presented to Durga Mehta, former president, TNAI.


"The state unit has long campaigned for fair wages, safe work environment and professional dignity for nurses and midwives. It conducts nursing education through seminars and workshops, apart from mobilizing initiatives on mother-child health and immunization. TNAI has represented Indian nursing at national and international platforms," said spokesperson Dr Deepali Umale.


Institutions with over 25 years of association with TNAI as well as former office bearers were felicitated. The message to the nursing fraternity was that they are the unseen strength during life’s most fragile moments.
