Describing NCP chief Sharad Pawar as "the hero of the developments following his decision to resign," the Shiv Sena (UBT) mouthpiece Saamna on Thursday said that some NCP leaders who were sitting on the fence and lamented the most after Pawar's resignation had been exposed by his move.
READ MOREThe panel requested Sharad Pawar not to resign at the moment, he should stay till the Parliament elections. He might have taken this decision (to resign as ncp chief) to give a chance to new faces but we have requested him to stay on his post.
Pawar Saheb took the decision without informing us. Considering all the demands of the party workers and leaders, we took a meeting today and the committee has passed a proposal unanimously. The committee unanimously rejects the resignation and we request Pawar to continue on his post of party president.

It is an internal matter of the NCP to select their leaders. But, as MVA partners, we cannot ignore the developments within the party. For a strong alliance, we would like to see Sharad Pawar continue as NCP chief. However, since Supriya Sule’s and Ajit Pawar’s names are being discussed, our choice will be Sule
I respect your sentiments. I should have discussed my plans with all of you and taken you into confidence. But I know you wouldn't have allowed me to take the decision (of stepping down as party chief). I will take a final decision in one or two days.
If the situation arises, the committee will decide on Pawar's successor and the decision will be unanimous. He sought time to think over his decision after the party asked him to reconsider it, and till the final decision is arrived at, there is no question of deliberating on his successor.
