MUMBAI: A decision was taken in the state cabinet meeting to implement Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan on a large scale in the state from August 9 to August 15. During this period, tricolor will be hoisted on 2.5 crore houses and establishments and various programs will also be organized.
For this, the Cultural Affairs Department will be the nodal agency, the Rural Development Department will be the nodal agency for rural areas and the Urban Development Department will be the nodal agency for urban areas.
“During this period, various programs will be organized like Tricolor Yatra, Tricolor Rally, Tricolor Pledge, Cultural Program, Tricolor Canvas, Tricolor Tribute, Tricolor Mela, Tricolor Selfie. On August 9, the state-level launch will take place from August Kranti Maidan in Mumbai. Tricolor will be hoisted on every home for 3 days on 13th, 14th and 15th of August,” said an official.
In 2022, the BMC had provided the tricolour along with the stick to hoist the flag. But in 2023, there were no free flags.
Citizens wishing to put up the national flag for
Independence Day had to use the previous year's flag or shell out Rs 25 for it. India Post, Maharashtra Circle was entrusted with the responsibility for making national flags available to citizens.
